April 2014

May 2nd, 2014

The 2nd weekend of the month, Joselyn and I made a trip to VA. We celebrated Brody’s birthday. Brett and I also had our 1st date night in almost a year. It was so nice to get to spend some quality time together and celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. We took the kids to the beach and they absolutely loved it. Despite the 50 some degree water temp both boys gladly jumped right on in. I on the other hand only got my feet wet. Brett ended up getting a tick at the beach and was able to get it out quickly.

The last weekend of the month Ross, Dave, and Tracy pulled out the drywall in the basement since Brett and I decided that we will be putting steel beams on all 3 walls.

I can’t believe Brody is now 4 yrs old. Where has the time gone!? He is counting as high as 60 and now recognizes much of the alphabet. I am sure he knows more than he lets on. He is one smart cookie.

Joselyn is now 9 months old. She is 18lbs 8oz and 28 inches long. She is getting more sure of herself and is trying to free stand. She continues to babble and will tell you when she doesn’t like something.

This month puts Martin halfway to his next birthday. He is officially 6.5yrs old. Again, where has the time gone??? Martin is almost done with Kindergarten and can read. He has grown up so much these past few months.

March 2014

April 3rd, 2014

I co-hosted a bridal shower for a good friend of mine at the house and it was a wonderful time. I loved having a day where I didn’t have to think about life.
I sent a care package to the boys with light up shamrock rings and zucchini bread. I wrote a little note to the boys which Martin read almost the entire thing. Once he realized the package was from me, his face lit up like a Christmas tree. 1 of the times we skyped, Martin had a ladybug crawling all over him and he was cracking jokes about why it was called a ladybug. He is growing up too fast. Brody of course starts chiming in with potty jokes and laughing hysterically at himself.
Joselyn is now full on crawling and is pulling up and cruising. She loves to walk and hear her own voice. She is babbling away and says, ma-ma, ba-ba, da-da, and na-na.
My van broke down again this month. Thankfully my brother was able to fix it without too much trouble. The horrible stomach flu that has been hitting households everywhere hit our house this month. It took a full week for me to completely recover. Grandma and Grandpa McCoy also got sick with it.
The boys are enjoying much nicer weather in VA than us in OH. Maybe I will get a respite from Ohio weather when I visit next month.

February 2014

March 3rd, 2014

The month started out cold and snowy for Joselyn and I. But the weather was fairly warm and rainy for Brett and the boys. They had a few inches of snow and Brett even got a snow day.
Joselyn hit 7 months old this month and is up on hands and 1 knee and 1 foot. She is officially mobile as she scoots all over the place. She is around 17lbs now and about 27 inches long. She outgrew her infant bucket seat in length so she has been ugraded to a Convertible seat.
Joselyn and I made a trip to VA over Valentine’s weekend for a short but much needed visit. We didn’t do much of anything but spend time together and snuggle. It was so nice to hold my babies in my arms.
Both boys have grown since Christmas. Brody grew so much we switched him to 4T pants. He really needed the length. Brody is constantly singing his ABCs and counting everything he has.
Martin informed me that he can pour his own milk and cereal now. Granted that is if the milk jug is less than half full.
After our visit, Brett, Brody, Joselyn and myself got a horrible cold. So far Martin has escaped this round of illness. The week before Brett and Martin both had a stomach bug.
I’m still job searching without luck. Brett and I have decided that we will be fixing the basement walls. That will surely help with getting rid of the house.

January 2014

February 2nd, 2014

Joselyn and I helped Isabel celebrate her 3rd birthday after she recovered from pneumonia. I’m slowly learning to cook for 1 and I have been trying out different recipes. Hopefully Brett and the boys will enjoy them as much as I do.
Joselyn had her 6 month well visit and is 16.5lbs and 26.75inches long. She had her 1st taste of food. She has had sweet potato and doesn’t seem to mind it. She does not care for bananas at all. So far that is what she had. Joselyn is learning to feed herself and is developing her pincer grasp enough to do it. She still isn’t very good at it though. She mostly mashes and plays.
Martin learned a little about Martin Luther King and was tickled about the fact that he shared a name with someone. He did inform me that MLK was shot and I was a little shocked that he knew this. I would think that the school would put a little sugar coating on why we celebrate MLK day for kids his age. I guess I was wrong.
Brett and the boys went to an arena racing event and while Martin enjoyed it Brody’s attention span couldn’t be held by the racing and crashes. All in all they had a great time. The boys are also delving deeper into the world of skylander giants.

December 2013

January 2nd, 2014

As we counted down the days until Christmas, the boys kept adding things to their list to Santa and changing it all together. Joselyn and I had fun going out and doing a lot of shopping together. She also helped me wrap. I even let her play with some of her toys before I wrapped them.
Brett and the boys surprised me for Christmas by coming in to Ohio a few days early. It was amazing having my Brody barrel into me and giving me the biggest hugs he could muster and my Martin squeezed my waist so tight that I it almost hurt. Brett went to VA the Sunday after Christmas but the boys stayed in Wellington with Grandma Yoder so that they could spend time with Ella. We all had a great time together and I can’t wait to see them again.
Joselyn is 5 months old this month and is about 16.5 lbs. She sits without assistance and is showing a tremendous amount of interest in what I am eating. She is also reaching for objects and passing them from hand to hand. She loves to talk and make as much noise as she can.
Martin continues to do well in school and is learning to sound out the words that he sees. He is maturing rapidly and he makes Brett and I proud with what he has learned.
Brody is starting to recognize and write his letters and numbers.
All 3 of my babies are at different stages in their lives but it never ceases to amaze me of what they have all accomplished in their short lives.

November 2013

December 2nd, 2013

It is strange for me to be without my boys. Joselyn and I are becoming quite the bachelorettes. We are getting into a routine and it suites us. I started my Christmas shopping and I am almost done. Brett and the boys are getting along well in VA. Although Brett is missing snow and wishes he was in OH for the 1st snow of the season.
Martin is learning to read! He is recognizing more and more words. He is doing well in school and his teacher has put him in the “high” reading group. Which means he knows his letters and their sounds, so now he needs to learn words and their sounds.
Brody is as rambunctous as ever. He is keeping Brett in shape with all the chasing Brody needs.
Joselyn had her 4 month well visit this month and she is 14lbs 11oz and 25.25 inches long. She is sitting assisted and can even sit unassisted for a few seconds. She is very talkative and I believe she has started singing. She says da-da and is putting everything in her mouth that she can get a hold of. She also had her 1st 2 colds this month. On top of all her 1sts she started cutting her 1st tooth this month. It isn’t in yet but it shouldn’t be long before it is.
Joselyn and I traveled to VA for Thanksgiving and it was wonderful! I got to spend 4 glorious days with my boys and it ended all too soon. We squeezed in a lot of family time including making ninjabread cookies and visiting Santa. I can’t wait until Christmas when I get to hold them again.

October 2013

November 1st, 2013

October has been a long and trying month. Brett and I have had more headaches this month than we can count. We are still living in different states which is difficult but we are making the best of it. We all miss each other very much.
I took Brody and Joselyn up to Wellington to visit family and to attend the barn party thrown by my uncle. It was a nice night and we had a great time. The following weekend Brett and Martin traveled to OH to celebrate Martin’s 6th birthday. It was great seeing them after 6 long weeks apart. The last weekend of the month Martin had his 1st Halloween party! He had a lot of fun. We also met in Charleston so that Brody could move to VA. The boys had their 1st Trick or Treat in VA and had a great time. They got lots of candy which I’m sure Brett raided. I would have too but I wasn’t there to do it.
Joselyn is 3 months old and by the end of the month was reaching out for things (and grabbing onto them if she could) as well as sitting assisted. She is still wobbly but in no time she will get the hang of it.

On to November and the start of the 2013 holiday season. 1st up..Thanksgiving

September 2013

October 5th, 2013

Martin started Kindergarten this month! He loves school and so far he love PE class and the cafeteria. He is slowly making new friends and is already learning so much.
Brett started a new job this month and he is learning the ropes. So far he is enjoying his new position.
Joselyn is almost 3 months old now and she is laughing/giggling and talking more than ever. She still hates being on her tummy but is very close to rolling over. At her 2 month well visit she weighed in at 13lbs 8oz and is 24.25in long. She got her 1st round of vaccines and cried when she got them. She also started going to the babysitters. She is having a tough time adjusting to being away from me.
I went back to work in OH and along with Joselyn and Brody have been staying with Rebecca and Tracy. It is difficult being apart but we are making it work skype. Isabel and Brody are having a great time playing together.
Brody has been adjusting well to everything going on around him. He loves the new backyard that came with the new house and the fact that he can run in circles inside the house.

August 2013

September 4th, 2013

We started out the month with VBS! It is always a fun time and this year Brody went for the 1st time. He of course had a great time and so did Martin as always.
The 1st weekend in August we went to cousin Sienna’s wedding. This was our 1st road trip longer than 2 hrs. It was quite interesting keeping everyone entertained for the duration of the trip. The hardest part was stopping every 2 hrs to feed Joselyn. We had a great time at the wedding and everyone was so excited to finally meet Martin, Brody, and Joselyn. While it was fun, we were very glad to come home.
The end of the month saw Brett and I moving our family to VA so that Brett could start his new job and Martin could start school. We spent a couple weeks giving our house a face lift to get it ready to sell.
While the boys stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Yoder, Brett and I took Joselyn to go look for housing VA. She did very well and slept the entire flight. The boys had a blast swimming, going to the fair, snake hunting, and hanging out with my family.

July 2013

August 4th, 2013

I had my final doctor appointment on 7/1 where we scheduled my induction. 7/1 was also the 1st day of my maternity leave. It was a nice 4 days of no work to get some things done around the house. I took the boys to the zoo on 7/3 to get in some mommy and son time before their sister arrived. We had a blast despite the humidity.
The 3rd weekend in July we went to my family reunion and despite getting rained on we had a good time. The boys were covered in mud by the time we left and went straight to the bath when we got home.
The rest of the month was spent recuperating and didn’t do much of anything.
The boys finished up their swimming lessons and Martin finished up soccer camp. They had a blast and learned a lot. Martin now wants to start playing soccer.
Joselyn had her 1st 2 well visits at 5 days and 2 weeks. She is growing like a weed. At her 2 week visit she was 21.5 inches long and 9lbs 13oz. She grows stronger by the day and is already smiling and try to coo. She was holding her head up by 2 weeks as well.
