January 2011

January 30th, 2011

I can’t believe the 1st month of the year has come and gone already. We started off the month right with the birth of our very first niece, Isabel Ava! Brett and I are very excited to be Uncle and Aunt now. Martin is also very excited to have a new cousin. Brody continued his battle with ear infections and ended up needing ear tubes. He seems to be doing much better, but we will find out at his followup in a couple weeks. Brody weighed in at 20lbs 9oz and 29 inches long at his 9 month well visit. Brody is slowly starting to eat more solid food and he took his 1st step this month! Martin is completely obsessed with dinosaurs and I think knows more about them than Brett and I do. He gets smarter everyday and is learning his letters and numbers. Brett was out in Oregon and Washington State for a weeks as well. The boys and I missed him a lot especially when we got all that snow! On to February and more cold and snow. Hopefully that Groundhog will give us only 6 more weeks of this cold. I’m frozen to the core and hope to warm up soon!

The last month of the year has come and gone. It definitely has been a year to remember. We started the month off by going up to Wellington for my Grandpa’s dedication ceremony. For his many years of hard work he had a water pumping building named after him. Health wise we could all be doing much better. Brody got his 3rd & 4th ear infections in 8 weeks, Brett was put on 2 different antibiotics for a sinus infection, and Martin and I have been down and out with a cold or 2. We celebrated Grandma Judy’s birthday at Home Town Buffett in the middle of our 1st snow storm of the season. Martin sang in the choir of his 1st Christmas program! It was a great show and Martin sang all of the songs. My big boy!!!
This has been a difficult month at best. We are all missing our beloved grandfather, father, brother, and friend. Christmas and New Years were not the same without him. He was such a card shark that when we we played cards at New Years no one wanted to sit next to him. But even when he skunked you, you would always have a good laugh. Celebrating and living life without Kate’s Grandpa is surreal, I still try to include him in emails or send him something I know he would find funny.
This year Martin really got into Santa and all the magic behind it. We made reindeer food and Martin was very excited to see that the reindeer at all the food and Santa ate all the cookies. Martin gladly helped himself to the crumbs Santa left behind. This was Brody’s 1st Christmas and he had a blast trying to eat all of the wrapping paper. We celebrated NYE up in Wellington. While we were there we took Martin to get fitted for his tuxedo since he will be the ring bearer in Jeremiah and Joanna’s wedding in June. Again…What a Big Boy!
