Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

January 3rd, 2012

This month we were busy busy busy! We took the boys to the Wild Lights at the zoo and we all enjoyed ourselves. It was a great night to be out since it was about 55 degrees that night. This was also Brody’s first time at the zoo where he could truly appreciate seeing the animals. The animals were very active and it was nice to see and hear them. Throughout the month we made Christmas cookies. We all joined in on the fun, although I think Brody ate more than he made. Martin went up to Grandma and Grandpa McCoy’s for an overnight visit and cookie making. He of course had a blast and I’m sure the grandparents did too! We also celebrated Grandma McCoy’s birthday. We had a nice visit and we updated her family photos. The last time the McCoy boys got their pictures taken together was 2002 or 2003 so it was a nice gift.
Martin sang in the church Christmas pageant. It was once again a wonderful program. I’m so glad that we had such a great turnout. Brody hit the big 2-0 (months that is) and has officially entered the terrible twos. Hopefully it won’t last long but I have a feeling we are in for a ride on the tantrumobile with him.
As the days went by Martin become more and more excited about Christmas. His eyes would gleam and get as big as saucers, he grinned from ear to ear, practically jumping out of his skin with excitement at the mere mention of Christmas. Christmas eve we went to church and came home to eat dinner together. Martin and Brody scattered reindeer food outside and set cookies out for Santa. The boys were not disappointed Christmas morning. Santa brought some very cool gifts and Martin got his beloved remote control car. Christmas day was spent at the McCoy’s as we do every year. We did our white elephant which as always is very amusing when people fight over the gifts. We brought home 2 very exhausted boys. The next weekend we went up to Wellington to celebrate Christmas with the Yoder/Farnsworth Clan. We had a blast visiting with everyone and 3 of 4 McCoys manage to stay up until midnight (Brody came close going to bed at 11pm). We had some VERY cranky boys the next morning but we managed a nap on the way home.
2011 was a blessed year with the addition of our niece and the marriage of my brother and his high school sweetheart. Now we start it all anew with 2012. Brett should also get his designation earning a trip to DC or New Orleans. We will watch Brody turn 2 and Martin turn 5. Brett and I will celebrate 7 years of marriage. Where does the time go?
